Introduction to Intercom System Our intercom system is a private telecommunciation system that allows two or more locations to communicate with each other like telephone does. You can use an intercom systems from your house to house gate or all of the rooms, to view your visitors and speak with your family. Intercoms in larger buildings often function as public address systems, capable of broadcasting announcements. Intercoms are generally comprised of fixed microphone/speaker units, with or without built-in camera, which connect to a central control panel. The most basic intercom circuit consists of two intercom stations linked to each other with a push to talk switch. These kind of circuits are simple, and generally consist of only one or two amplifiers and use the speaker as normal speaker and microphone (how it is used depends on talk switch position).
